In 2016, the UAE enacted Federal Law No. 3 on Child Rights, known as Wadeema's Law, establishing comprehensive protection for all children in the country. Understanding these rights helps parents ensure their children receive proper care and protection.

Key Protection Rights Under Wadeema's Law

The law identifies several situations that threaten a child's physical, psychological, moral, or mental well-being, including:

  • • Child abuse and neglect
  • • Exposure to exploitation or sexual abuse
  • • Educational neglect
  • • Inability of parents to provide proper care
  • • Exposure to begging or economic exploitation
  • • Kidnapping, sale, or trafficking

Rights at the Child Center

Children receiving services at the Child Center have specific rights:

  • • Professional treatment from all staff
  • • Access to all appropriate programs and services
  • • Protection from harm in a safe environment
  • • Information about their status and the Center's activities
  • • Privacy and confidentiality of personal information
  • • Consent to participate in services and the right to leave
  • • Access to management if they believe their rights are violated

As a parent, you play a vital role in upholding these rights by recognizing when they may be compromised and seeking appropriate help when needed.
