Abu Dhabi, UAE, November 21, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA), in collaboration with PureHealth, has unveiled a new Majlisna community-centered public site at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), building on the success of the first Majlisna in Al Falah. Initially launched in early 2024, the Majlisna initiative transforms public spaces into inclusive, culturally rooted environments that enhance the physical and mental well-being of young children and their families.
This latest opening, timed with Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week 2025 and aligned with the ECA’s Family-Friendly Abu Dhabi program, promotes healthier childhoods by encouraging outdoor play, reducing screen time, and encouraging stronger intergenerational bonds. This site was developed in collaboration with PureHealth, in partnership with Emirates Foundation, and the National Academy for Childhood Development (NACD).
Inspired by the traditional Emirati majlis, Majlisna is a public space initiative designed to support the physical and mental well-being of young children and their families. Rooted in cultural heritage and connected to the natural environment, it encourages active play to strengthen intergenerational bonds and foster a sense of belonging. While the SKMC location features a dedicated play hub, this is just one part of the broader initiative.
Her Excellency Sana bint Mohamed Suhail, Minister of Family and Director General of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, said: “Play is not just fun - it’s essential for childhood. When children play, they learn, they grow, and they build bonds that last a lifetime. That’s what Majlisna is all about: creating places where every child feels included, every parent feels supported, and every family feels they belong. Opening a Majlisna at SKMC is very special, because it shows families that even in healthcare settings, we can bring joy, connection, and a sense of community. Seeing children laughing, running, and exploring together in these spaces fills me with hope and excitement for the future we are building.”
Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer at PureHealth, said: “Our collaboration on Majlisna reflects PureHealth’s belief that health begins in childhood and community. Spaces that bring families together to move, play and connect build the foundations for lifelong well-being. By integrating inclusive, family-friendly environments into our hospitals, we are evolving the healthcare experience – creating places that nurture belonging and joy, as much as healing.”
Additional locations for Majlisna are being explored to expand access to inclusive, family-centered spaces across the Emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) is a government entity, based in Abu Dhabi, that supports holistic early childhood development. We do this by developing policies and laws, informing decision-making through research and transforming behavior.
